Work on the Coast in England? The Environment Agency would like to hear your views

Please complete this anonymous survey and promote with coastal colleagues, to help us better understand the awareness and use of coastal flood and erosion risk products and Shoreline Management plans in England.

What’s happening?

  • The Environment Agency and coastal authorities are working together through Coastal Groups to better understand the awareness and use of coastal flood and erosion risk products and Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs) in England.
  • Together we will use the results to help inform the communication and engagement for the launch of SMP-Explorer and future improvements to SMPs and the risk products.
  • SMP-Explorer is a new online tool which aims to bring coastal management to life through map-based visualisations to make SMPs more accessible. We aim to launch SMP-Explorer in January 2024.
  • The survey will be live for 3 weeks from 2 – 20 October 2023 and should only take 10-15 minutes to complete.
  • As part of the survey, we are offering respondents the option to join a follow up workshop on 14 November 9.30am-12.30pm. This will help us further test/explore the research conclusions and start identifying next steps.

What do you need to do?

Please complete the anonymous survey if you work in one of the following roles:

  • local government elected member.
