HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, THE PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE PHILIP,
DUKE OF EDINBURGH

There will be a County Service of Commemoration of, and Thanksgiving for, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh which will take place on Friday 16 April, 3.30 pm at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.

Due to the impossibly tight COVID restrictions on the numbers allowed in the Cathedral, attendance at the event is by invitation-only. Aldeburgh will be represented by the Mayor, Cllr Kevin Webster.

However, the service will be live-streamed via the St Edmundsbury Cathedral Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Funeral will take place on Saturday 17 April 2021 at 3.00 pm in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. The funeral service will begin with a National Minute’s Silence. The service will be preceded by a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The plans for the funeral are in line with The Duke of Edinburgh’s own personal wishes and the occasion will recognise and celebrate The Duke’s life and his more than 70 years of service to The Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth.
