The Manager's Report

Aldeburgh Library is bracing itself for another busy summer of activities for everybody – young and old, residents and visitors. Staff member Bernie has just set up a Memories Corner in the library as a resource for dementia sufferers and those connected with them. It is still a work in progress and we would like donations of items suitable for memory boxes or for display in the area.  The library is very keen to promote this idea and also find out what else we might be able to do to help.  At the moment, the library has a selection of items and some amazing books to encourage reminiscences as well as information and resource guides.

Another staff member, Kate, is organising a Get Connected event in the library on Wednesday 12th July from 10:00 to 13:00.  The event is for people to find out about the online services offered by the library and, if they wish, to bring their own devices along for advice on how to use them in conjunction with library services.

And watch out for the Summer Reading Challenge  - that’s coming up soon.

Newly-appointed library manager Sue Osben  said: “Our aim is to raise the profile of the library, to encourage more people to use our services and to let us know what sort of events they would like to see organised here - especially if they are not accustomed to using the library.

“ I am hoping to be able to run events here, possibly in conjunction with other organisations, that will have something of interest to all residents of Aldeburgh and visitors too.”
